My research focuses on AI/NLP for data management, AI for science, especially energy-related materials and chemistry, FinTech, AI for hospitality management, and AI for social goods, with a focus on supporting people with mental disorders. Across these connected areas, I study how people, platforms, and intelligent systems can work together to improve data-driven decision-making. I am also active in quantitative trading, especially in crypto markets. I received my PhD in Computer Science and Engineering from HKUST in 2015, supervised by Prof. Lei Chen. I have served as PI/PC on projects supported by the RGC Early Career Scheme, NSFC/RGC Joint Research Scheme, Innovation and Technology Commission (ITSP and PRP), Research Matching Grant Scheme (RMGS), the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department (EMSD), and several industrial sponsors.
